We are currently using API version v201601 for reports download; this API version is set for sunset on August 27, 2016. Therefore, to upgrade to the newest version and downloading the latest files for v201605, I realized that the old code is still using the client version 2.15.0 vs the new version in the download is 4.7.1.

So I modified the code to use the new files for v201605 but still using the old client version 2.15.0 - this works fine without any issues. My question is will the 'client version 2.15.0' continue to work in future or this also needs to be updated? does it also have a sunset date? I was unable to find any relevant data on this topic so posting the question out here.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Binaya,

Yes, AdWords API v201601 is set to sunset on August 27, 2016 based from the deprecation schedule. Since it is deprecated and will be sunset, we encourage to migrate to the latest version v201605. Please refer to the migration guide and the client libraries

Best Regards,

Joyce,

Thanks for confirming the AdWords API v201601 sunset date.

My question is regarding the client.pm file though. If I continue using the client.pm file from older version (our $VERSION = qv("2.15.0");) and just download and refer to folder v201605 in my code (https://github.com/googleads/googleads-perl-lib/tree/master/lib/Google/Ads/AdWords),the code still works fine. (it has been working fine for previous API updates as well). So I am confused? Do I need to start using the new client.pm file too? It works now but will it break soon? When migrate to a newer version of API, what are all the files that needs to be updated.

Appreciate your help.

Binaya

Hi Binaya,

I would recommend to use the updated client library with the new version. You may refer on the migration guide provided above to check on the updates to services and their components and modify your application accordingly.

Hope this helps.
