Google - what is the plan for an API for Youtube ads data? The current options are severely lacking

It's been a very long time since it was possible to advertise on youtube via adwords but the options for accessing the data are basically non existent. we had a work around that involved automating a data extraction from a scheduled email but now this requires a login which makes automation impossible. 

all i see is response from google reps saying it is not possible - can someone please give an indication as to what google plans to do? has anyone else out there experienced this issue and found a solution?
