Unlinking an Asset from an Ad Group Without Deleting It

Hi Team,

I’m currently working with the Google Ads API and need some guidance. I have a scenario where I need to unlink an asset from an ad group, but I want to avoid deleting the asset entirely. My goal is for the asset to be unlinked from the ad group while still remaining available  for future use.

Is there a way to unlink the asset from the ad group without deleting it? If so, could you please guide me on how to achieve this using the API?

Hi,

Thank you for reaching out to the Google Ads API support team.

I suggest you to refer to this AdGroupAsset documentation, a link between an ad group and an asset. Note that you can use the update operation and make AssetLinkStatus ​​​​as REMOVED (Asset link has been removed). You may use this Method: customers.adGroupAssets.mutate endpoint.

Please try with the above suggestions and let us know how it goes at your end.
