Sunsetting PHP7.4 support timeline

Hello,

Accortding to the announcements at https://developers.google.com/google-ads/api/docs/client-libs/php and https://github.com/googleads/google-ads-php/issues/880 the planned sunset is before July 1st? On July st? 

Can you guys perhaps consider announcing an exact date for the switch, and also what the sunset actually means? As in, simply no support or updates, or rejecting of the calls made by older library?

Hi Michael,

Thank you for raising your concern to the Google Ads API team.

According to this post -https://github.com/googleads/google-ads-php/issues/880 it was mentioned that they are aiming by July 5, 2023, when the composer file of this library will require PHP version 8.0. This is because all PHP 7 versions reached their end of life in 2022. The PHP development team no longer provides security fixes for these versions.

In addition, it was mentioned on our blog post(https://ads-developers.googleblog.com/2023/03/removing-support-for-php-7-in-google.html) that the Google Ads API v14 will be the last version that supports PHP 7. We’ll still fix security issues for this client library version until the Google Ads API v14 is sunset, but no new features will be added. For information on our sunset dates, kindly refer here: (https://developers.google.com/google-ads/api/docs/sunset-dates#timetable)

Moving forward, Google Ads API definition of sunset is found here: (https://developers.google.com/google-ads/api/docs/sunset-dates#differences_between_deprecation_and_sunset). The sunset version can no longer be used. Requests sent to this version will fail on or after the sunset date. API endpoints for the sunset versions stop working after the sunset dates. The Google Ads API will throw an error if you try to access the API endpoints of the sunset versions. The sunset versions are no longer supported after the sunset date.
