GetKeywordIdeas and KeywordMatchType or similar to be able to set Broad/Phrase/Exact match

Hello, I have been looking through and testing the samples for Adwords API today. I am most interessted in using something like GetKeywordsIdeas but I can not figure out what the results are based on. 

1. If I for example select the request type STATS.  Are the numbers based on broad, phrase or exact? 

2. Is there any way to change the matching? in EstimateKeywordTraffic I can see that I can set this match criteria per keyword but not in GetKeywordsIdeas. 

3. In the Adwords web tool keyword planner I can review historical search volumes for potential key words, is there any way to do this with the API?

Please find my response below:

Retrieving keyword stats based on retrieving historical keyword statistics. We will not be able to comment on which match types the stats belong to. It is more of a Product level question. You could post your concern on the Advertisers community forum and the product experts will be able to take a look.

2. Is there any way to change the matching? in EstimateKeywordTraffic I can see that I can set this match criteria per keyword but not in GetKeywordsIdeas. 

You will be able to use KeywordMatchType for a TargetingIdeaService and change the match type as per your use case. You may refer to this code sample on how to set the match type of a keyword using the KeywordMatchType attribute. Code samples in other languages can be found here.

Could you please share a screenshot of the UI, so I can take a look? If you're referring to the search volume data and trends in the UI, you will be able to use Targeting Idea Service by specifying the parameters mapping to a similar functionality.
