Hi,
I am trying to understand the significance of values returned by TrafficEstimatorService API for new accounts.
Especially values returned for  averageCpc, averagePosition, clickThroughRate, clicksPerDay, impressionsPerDay ,totalCost. On what basis do we return this data? I understand that posstion, CTR, clicks are returned based on existing creatives in the account. But how does this work for new accounts?
what about impressions? Does that depend on current account?
Ideally, if I am trying to find out new keywords, it should give me normal impressions for them right? If the impressions count is modified and customised for my account and for some reason it is very low, how will i come to know the actual potential of the same?

Am i missing something here?

Hi Kiran,

The TrafficEstimatorService service generates forecasts by taking samples of past performance for the keywords and options you specify. The estimates for average CPC, position, clicks per day etc are calculated based on this historical data, and not just data associated with your account.

If you are using the TrafficEstimatorService to get estimates on new keywords, the impressions and cost data you get will depend on the bids, location criterion, targeting etc associated with the keyword, AdGroup and/or Campaign

Please check out the Estimating Traffic Guide for more details.

Regards,
Shwetha, AdWords API Team.

Thanks for the clarification Shwetha.
I know that RequestType.Keyword will give Keyword Ideas in the TargetingIdeaService. How can we get the Adgroup Ideas (the one shown in the Adwords Panel along with Keyword Ideas) from the apis?

Hi Kiran,

TargetingIdeaService is used to get new keyword ideas based on the inputs you provide. It does not support providing AdGroup Ideas.

Please follow our blog regarding any updates.

Is there no way of getting AdGroup Ideas from API?

I'll throw this open to everyone - Has anyone tried doing this? Any idea what might be the best way getting started on this?

Hi Kiran,

Yes, unfortunately, AdGroup Ideas is not supported in the API. You can still use the TargetingIdeaService to get search volume data and trends for a set of keywords and use this information to group keywords into AdGroups. You can also try seeding with an AdGroupID so that the AdGroup's keywords could be used to generate new keywords.

Please keep an eye on our blog for any updates or announcements on this feature.
