Hi,

We have added more and more video action campaigns now,
and placement_type is one of key metrics we want to study.
However, when we pull the data from the Group Placement View of google-ads API,
we found the data from there is significantly lower than other reports.
For instance, for 1 of our campaign, the daily cost on 09/05/2022 is $501.74,
which is consistent from age, gender, or video report. However, from group placement view,
we only get 178.41 for cost, which is about 35% of the real spend.

Initially, we thought, this might be a problem for not pulling all data,
then we tried to download the data directly from the UI.
It gave the same numbers from the API, the same wrong and inconsistent numbers
by comparison with the other reports.

We only get data for 'MOBILE_APPLICATION', 'WEBSITE', 'YOUTUBE_CHANNEL',
and wonder if the data from Unknown or Unspecified are missing.
Could we trust this group_placement_view report at all?
Is this a known problem? When could you fix this?

Thanks,

Bing

Hi Bing,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

For our team to further investigate and provide appropriate recommendations, could you please provide us with the complete API logs (request and response with request-id) generated on your end and the whole Google Ads UI screenshot without cropping where you can see the expected data you want to retrieve in API?

Note that this can be requested or provided to the developer handling the Google Ads API transactions when logging of the API requests has been enabled.

These are the specific guidelines to enable it. For REST interface requests, you can enable logging via the curl command by using the -i flag. This will cause the tool to include the HTTP response headers in the output.

You may then send the requested information via the Reply privately to author option. If this option is not available, you may send the details directly to our googleadsa...@google.com alias instead.

Best regards,
