What is the best way to find the estimated CPC bid price for a top of page (top 3 spots) placement for different locations in the U.S. I have approximately 3,400 locations I want to get this avg. CPC bid price for. If possible I would like to use an existing campaign/Adgroups/keywords to do it. I think this information is available on the detailed reports, but I would like to fetch this info via API.
Thanks,

Hi,

I'd recommend using the TrafficEstimatorService. See our Estimating Traffic guide for a full explanation/walkthrough of the service. In particular, this section discusses how to set up criteria for specific locations. Each client library also contains an example of using this service in the EstimateKeywordTraffic example in the optimization folder (e.g., the Java example is here).

Cheers,

Thanks for the reply Josh, my programmer and I have reviewed the traffic estimator api and do not see any easy way to receive a "top of page bid" for a keyword in a specific location. In order to get a top of page bid it looks like you would have to send a request with a CPC, receive the Avg. Position back, and then keep doing this until you receive a Avg. Position back from the api greater than 3. It this correct?

I see that in the Adwords reports you can add a column "top of page bid" and it will give you the CPC bid price to be in one of the top positions. Is this information available via traffic estimator api?
Thank you,

Hi Shaun,

Unfortunately, I think the approach you outlined is your only option if you are looking for traffic estimates.

Thanks,
