Hey! I am a bit confused with the terminology of new google ads API.
Can you give me a couple of hints?

1. we have customers and clients. What is the difference?
2. resource names notation like `customers/X/campsign/Y` implies we manage resources belonging to customer, so why we need clietns in this case?
API docs website does not help much.

Thanks!

Hi Dmitriy,

Thank you for writing to us. Please find my response to your queries below.

  • We have customers and clients. What is the difference? It may refer to different entities in different context. Say for this guide <https://developers.google.com/google-ads/api/docs/account-management/linking-manager-accounts> to link to manager account, clients refers to the account which are being managed by a manager account whereas the customer here refers to current account (may be client or manager) from which the request will be initiated. If this doesn't clarify your concern, could you please share the context or the link to the guide where you are having difficulty understanding these terms?
  • Resource names notation like `customers/X/campaign/Y` implies we manage resources belonging to customer, so why we need clients in this case?

There are some important service classes like GoogleAdsClient that provides methods to make call against API. Please refer to this <https://developers.google.com/google-ads/api/docs/client-libs/dotnet/getting-started#create_a_googleadsclient_instance> guide for more details. You need to specify the client customer id (xxx-xxx-xxxx) in your request call for which you want to modify the resources.
Let us know if you need any further clarifications.
