Loading historical data for fields that will be deprecated in Google Ads API

Hi,

We are looking into how we will do our migration from using AdWords API to start using Google Ads API instead. We've noticed that some things will be deprecated in Google Ads API, for example the ad type DynamicSearchAd. We assume that once the Adwords api is deprecated it won't be possible to create ads of that type anymore, correct? But, how can we get historical data for that adtype once the adwords api is deprecated?

Hi David,

Thank you for reaching out. Google Ads API won't support getting metrics for Dynamic Search Ads but it will still be available in the UI. However, I would recommend upgrading to Expanded Dynamic Search Ads as soon as possible so you can start generating metrics for this ad before switching to Google Ads API. Hi,

Some of our clients place great value on being able to compare their marketing performance with historical data. When the Adwords API sunsets, will there be no way to get accurate data for time periods where deprecated ad types were used?

Hi Theo,

That is correct. You will have to get the data from the UI since it will not be available in Google Ads API. However, please be advised that the AdWords API sunset date will be at least one year after Google Ads exits "beta" and reaches full feature parity with AdWords.
