Controlling Adwords accounts via the API in a third-party user interface

HI There

After reading that the Adwords API ideally gives you access to most functions inside a normal account, we have been having real trouble finding an external user interface or dashboard to view our ad data and KPIs. 

Third party connectors like Zapier or IFTTT surprisingly don't serve the Adwords API and I am wondering if there is a reason for that. Even Tableau seems to make limited use of the API or connects to it with difficulty and workarounds that are a hassle.

Does anyone in this community know of a robust system that will allow us to operate our Adwords account(s) outside of the classic adwords web interface? Preferably using a dashboard-like interface like Geckoboard.
