API Query Builder Validator with unexpected error

Hi Google Support,

I've run into an issue with the Google Ads Query Validator and need some help debugging.

  * API Version: v14

  * Query: "SELECT asset_group.name, metrics.clicks FROM asset_group"

  * Result: Invalid Query (errors below)

    * 'metrics.clicks' is not a valid field in the SELECT clause when 'asset_group' is the resource in the FROM clause. Fields in the SELECT must be 'Selectable'.

Hi,

Thank you for reaching out to the Google Ads API support team. 

Kindly note that the field metrics.clicks is not available in version 14 of the Google Ads API. However, this field is available from version 15 onwards. This is the reason for the error that you are getting. So please run the same query with version 15 or 16.

Please be informed that version 14 is deprecated as of October 18, 2023, and will sunset by the end of June 5, 2024. So, I would suggest you upgrade to v16. For information regarding depreciation and sunset, you can check this reference document, and you may follow this link to upgrade to the latest version.
