Hi everyone,

I am trying to figure out how to download a report using the AdWords API which displays the number of clicks per local action (such as Click to call, Driving Directions and Website visit) for each physical location i have in my Locations -> Per Shop Report page.

Currently, using "ClickType" within my query i can segment the results and get the number of clicks associated with the click type "get location details" for every location. From what i've read, "get location details" triggers when someone clicks on an ad associated with a physical location, then it displays what are the possible action to perform. I am interested into the clicks on those actions. Once i know someone clicked on that ad, how can i know what he clicked next? And how can i show the number of clicks for those actions in my report?

Thank you,

Francesco

Hi Francesco,

The Locations > Per Shop Report page is currently not supported in the AdWords API. To learn more about Google Ads UI reports and which are their equivalent AdWords API reports, you may refer to this guide. Also, the ClickType field is currently not supported in any AdWords API report that specializes in location criteria.

Additionally, could you provide more information as to what you meant by "when someone clicks on an ad associated with a physical location, then it displays what are the possible action to perform", could you confirm if is this an action prompted in the Google Ads UI?

Thanks and regards,
Peter

Hi Peter,
Thank you for the links and for the clarification, now i understand why i could not find any information about that online!
Actually, i was referring to the point of view of a customer who clicked on the Ad while scrolling through Google's results. From this guide on click types i have found (look near the end), i could understand that the local panel is the landing page for the 'get location details' clicks of the customer on the Ad, and from that he can perform those described as local actions (the actions i was interested into).
That's the scenario i had in my mind, sorry if my explanation was a bit confused, i am new to the whole AdWords world! And please, correct me if i am wrong on anything i have said.

Thank you again and regards,
Francesco

Hi Franceso,

No worries, also, thank you for providing more context and welcome to AdWords as well! My apologies as I didn't understand right away that you were referring to location extensions. You can try and generate the Placeholder Feed Item Report to extract their information and you can filter using the PlaceholderType = 7 (which translates to the location placeholder as seen in this guide).

In this report, you should be able to retrieve the ClicksClickTypeCostImpressions, and other important metrics. Let me know if this is what you're looking for.

Thanks and regards,
Peter
