When I pull cost_micros from the campaign table, it reflects full, accurate spend data that matches Google Ads exactly. But when using cost_micros in detail_placement_view, only about 25% of the data is retrieved.

What might cause this data gap, and is there a way to obtain complete spend data within detail_placement_view?

Hi,

Thank you for reaching out to the Google Ads API support team.

By reviewing your concern, I understand you're experiencing a discrepancy in the cost_micros data between ‘campaign’ resource and ‘detail_placement_view’.

It seems like you are trying to compare data at the ‘campaign’ level with ‘detail_placement_view’-level data, which are two distinct resources, each serving a different purpose in the Google Ads structure. When comparing data from the Google Ads UI and the API, it's important to ensure you're comparing equivalent resources. campaign and detail_placement_view represent different levels of data, so please make sure that you're aligning your comparisons correctly between resources.

To assist you further, could you please provide uncropped UI screenshots that clearly show the specified metrics or fields you're trying to retrieve, along with the associated Google Ads customer ID? Additionally, please confirm the exact expected value for cost_micros that you're looking to see, so we can check the discrepancy you're facing.

Also, please provide us with the complete API logs (request and response with request-id and request header) generated at your end to investigate further on your issue.

If you are using a client library and haven't enabled the logging yet, I would request you to enable logging for the specific client library that you are using. You can refer to the guides Java, .Net, PHP, Python, Ruby or Perl to enable logging at your end.

You can send the details via Reply privately to the author option, or direct private reply to this email.
