Hi all,

I'm using the OfflineCallConversionFeedService API to upload conversions from phone calls. I'm able to send requests and get responses that indicate success, but when I check on the conversion action in the Google Ads portal, I don't see what I expect. For a long time, I don't see a conversion at all, and then after a few hours I see conversions with values that I did not send. For example, I sent this conversion:

{ callerId: '<redacted>',
       callStartTime: '20191002 111548 America/New_York',
       conversionName: 'Call Extension Phone Sales',
       conversionTime: '20191029 235959 America/New_York',
       conversionValue: '1.13',
       conversionCurrencyCode: 'USD' }

And after waiting the recommended three hours, I saw a single conversion for $87.60.

If I am the only one uploading conversions to a conversion action, should I expect the total number of conversions and conversion value to be equal to the conversions and total value that I upload, or is there other match/matching/attribution that happens that would make the numbers different?

Hi Luke,

Thank you for writing to us regarding your concern. You need to use a Google forwarding number to upload offline call conversions. For Adwords to match the calls, Google forwarding numbers must have been enabled for your call extensions and call-only ads at the time you received the calls. The uploaded conversions data will be connected to the call extensions of the campaign that led to that conversion. You could verify the time range for which the conversions are created via API in the UI to check if the conversions are uploaded successfully. It is possible that the total number of conversions and conversion value are not equal to the conversions and total value that you uploaded via API. Please share the client customer id privately using Reply privately to author option if you still have any additional concerns.

Thanks for your response!

I've set up Google forwarding numbers for this account. When I send a conversion for a phone number that Google has not matched/tracked, I am able to receive an error message. In the issue I'm describing, I don't receive any error message. Thus, I'm not sure the issue is at this step.

This sounds like exactly the issue I am having. Could you please elaborate on why and under what circumstances this would happen?

Hi Luke,

The conversion values in your Google Ads UI show you the current effective conversion tracking account, which may differ from the effective conversion tracking account in place at the time of the call. The total number of conversions and conversion value may slightly differ from the values uploaded via API, suppose, there is a case when you have conversion tracking already set up for your account via UI and you are uploading a new conversions via API, this will add up the uploaded conversion value to the existing conversions in your Google Ads account. To clarify this better for your account, could you please share the client customer id for me to investigate further? Please reply using Reply privately to author option while sharing the details.

Thanks again!

In this particular case, the only conversions being sent to this particular conversion action are uplaoded via API. Does this mean I should expect what I upload to be the same as what I see in the UI?

Hi Luke,

If the conversions are only uploaded via API and there are no call conversions set up in your Google Ads account, the total conversion values should match the conversion values uploaded via API. Could you please share the complete request and response logs for the offline call conversions uploaded via API along with the client customer id for me to investigate this further to find out the root cause of the issue and assist you better?
