Not possible to update status of ad group

I am trying to update the status of ad groups to pause them using the PHP SDK. I set the status property of AdGroup to "PAUSED" and send a SET request, but the ad group is not paused and also the response says status = ENABLED.

What do I need to do to pause an ad group using the API/PHP SDK?

Please make sure you are specifying the correct AdGroup ID. Here is the client library example:
