Hi,

We download search query performance via reporting API, and the results shows very high CTR (calculated by click/impression), and almost all search queries have clicks which is expected?

My question is, does AdWords record search query result only (or more likely) for queries have clicks, and some of those not clicked search queries are not recorded in performance report? Or any other possible reasons for high click and missing impression?

Thanks!

Hi,

Could you confirm if you are asking why certain records in the Search Query Performance report have unexpected impressions or clicks? Please note that the Clicks and Impressions fields of the Search Query Performance report do not support zero impressions and with this, if any of your search queries are returned in the report then it means that they have indeed generated statistics.

However, if perhaps there are some search terms that you believe should not have been included in the report then kindly send to me your clientCustomerId, the complete report definition used and the generated file or simply the rows that you believe should not have generated performance statistics. Let me know if I understood your concern correctly and kindly reply to me via Reply privately to author for the requested information.

Thanks and regards,
Peter

I also heard that Google will hide the queries which have impressions but no clicks, because this kind of queries have no value to both customer and Google, is that true? maybe this is one of the reason why the CTR is high.
