Hi there. My team and I are trying to figure out which is the answers for the following questions:
  1. Is there a limit on the number / frequency of calls to the APIs for downloading data (Ads, Keywords, Reports, etc.) ?
  2. Is there a limit on the number of concurrent calls to the APIs for downloading data (Ads, Keywords, Reports, etc.) ?
  3. Regarding questions 1 and 2, would it make a difference if the API calls would come from more than one Google Account?
  4. We have experienced a limit on the frequency / number of calls to the APIs for pushing data to Google Ads.
We get the exception 'RateExceededError', but we don't know what triggers it.
  5. Regarding question 4, would it make a difference if the API calls would come from more than one Google Account?
Any suggestions based on your experience? Thank for the support ;-)

Hi Marco,

Kindly refer to below comments for your questions:

1 and 2. Yes, there are limits in terms of the number of requests and/or operations metered such as of Requests Per Minute, Operations Per Minute, and/or other types of rate limits such as operational limit. You may refer to this guide for the commonly seen rate limits. You may also refer to this rate sheet to determine how operations are counted.

3. It depends on the rate scope, wherein it could be account scope or developer scope. The developer token rate scope covers all transactions made against your developerToken, regardless which account you used. The account rate scope will only cover those requests done on a single Google Ads account.

4. To understand what triggers the RateExceededError, you need to check on the rateScope and rateName properties of the error itself. Kindly refer here for guide on how.

5. Same applies on question number 3. You may refer to this guide to understand it better.

Also, kindly refer to this guide on recommended ways to prevent such error.

Best regards,
Jaki
