I'm setting up ad customizers where I'm using up to 3 text fields to include features about the items we are selling, but not all 3 fields have data (some are blank). I'm wondering what is the default behaviour when a lookup to an adcustomizer is blank. For example what if the ad appears as "Check out our {=Products.feature3}". If feature3 is blank, does Google simply not trigger the ad entirely or will it show as blank? If the latter is the case, is there a programmic way using scripts to insert IF/conditionals to ensure we don't display a blank value?

Thank you

I'd also prefer to not revert to a default value, I'd rather the ad doesn't trigger than use a default value.

Hi Charles,

Thank you for writing to us today. Could you please confirm if you are using Google Ads API or Scripts to set up ad customizers? If you are using Google Ads Scripts and looking for a way to insert conditionals via scripts, I would recommend posting on Google Ads Scripts Forum as they would be able to assist you better with your concern. Feel free to reach out if you have any concerns related to Google Ads API/Adwords API.

Regards,
Nikisha Patel, Google Ads API Team
