Help on generating historical data for a few keywords

Hi,

I want to generate some historical data for the past year or two for a few keywords for research purposes and found this page which seems to be relevant: https://developers.google.com/google-ads/api/docs/keyword-planning/generate-historical-metrics

However I am unsure where to begin - I have a google ads account and I have made a keyword plan with a list of keywords. 

If someone could be of help I would greatly appreciate it!

Do you want to use the Google Ads API to generate historical metrics but you are new in Google Ads API? If yes and you are getting started by using Google Ads API, we highly suggest you to follow this QuickStart Guide. Once you're done with this QuickStart Guide, you may then follow the guide for generating historical metrics.
