Hi guys!

In migration guide for v201802 (https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/guides/migration/v201802) I see next:
"The AdNetworkType1 and AdNetworkType2 fields may now return a result of MIXED."
But I wasn't able to find what does this Cross-Network mean, could you provide more info?

For example, if I had campaign running in Youtube Video and Display Networks, will I get now AdNetworkType1 = mixed from API?

How can I check in Adwords UI that campaign has AdNetworkType1 = mixed?

Thanks in advance!

Hello Oksana,

Sorry for your confusion.
The MIXED AdNetworkType1 was added to prepare for the future feature of AdWords, which hasn't been fully released yet.
And it doesn't mean to represent Youtube Video and Display Networks.

Hi Thanet,

Quick follow-up question on Oksana's question.
The Mixed network is now available in the interface, but with its addition we're seeing differences between the API's data and the interface when for example filtering on just the Search network.
Might it be that the feature is not fully released yet in the API?

Thanks,

Tiana

Hi, Thanet.

We are seeing this come down for some API reports for some clients for AdNetworkType1, and we have no idea what it means and how we should classify these clicks. Could you please more specifically say what feature these kind of clicks represent?

Thanks,
Greg

Hi Greg and Tiana,

Would you be able to share some examples (CID and screenshot of the UI view where you are observing this in the UI)? I can take a closer look. From the API perspective, this feature is not fully released yet. That said, discrepancies between UI and the API are likely until then. Please keep an eye on our blog for announcements on new features.

Thanks,
Sreelakshmi, AdWords API Team

Thanks for confirming it's indeed not fully released in the API yet! That would indeed explain the discrepancies.

I'll provide examples privately in a bit. :)

Hello Sreelakshmi,

I've tried to look for an announcement on your blog regarding this issue, but couldn't find anything related.
Is this feature still not fully released in Google Ads API?

Thanks!

Hi Tsilia,

The MIXED value is available in both AdWords API and Google Ads API. While AdWords API's field is called AdNetworkType1, the field is called ad_network_type in Google Ads API.

Hello Anthony,

Thanks a lot for your response.
I'll clarify my issue, I can get this field when pulling data via Google Ads API.
The problem is that I can see that some rows are returned from Adwords API but missing from Google Ads API results.
These rows are the rows with the 'cross-network' value in the 'AdNetworkType1' column from Adwords API.
I understand that these rows are supposed to be returned from Google Ads API with 'MIXED' value in the 'ad_network_type' column, but can't find such rows in my results.
Is this kind of ads not released in Google Ads API? or am I missing something?

Thanks,
Tsila.

Hi Tsila,

Thanks for the clarification. What kind of ads are not appearing on your Google Ads API reports? I can take a closer look if you reply privately to author:
  • AdWords API report definition and results
  • Google Ads API report query and results
  • The ad group and ad Ids of the ads missing in your Google Ads API report
