Can you use HTML5 ads for dynamic retargeting using the API?

We've created HTML5 ads for Dynamic Retargeting, which work if we upload them manually. We have lots of clients and can't do this manually for all of them, therefore we're using the API.

However, we're getting an error:  MEDIA_BUNDLE_NOT_COMPATIBLE_TO_PRODUCT_TYPE

This means "The media bundle is not compatible with the asset spec product type. (E.g. Gmail, dynamic remarketing, etc.)"

This has us thinking we may have to use Responsive Ads instead of HTML5 media bundle for dynamic retargeting.

Can anyone verify this?

To better look into the issue, could you confirm if you are using the AdWords API or the Google Ads API?

Also you may share your customer ID and the complete request and response logs, along with the request ID, that was generated when the error occurred. You may send the requested details using the Reply privately to author option.
