Can I set a date range when using Generate Historical Metrics of the Keyword Plan service?

Hi,

On the GUI, I can select a date range for the historical metrics, but I didn't find any way to do the same through the API. According to the doc, I can only seem to pass the resource name.

I'm using API v4 through the Python client.

Hi Frédéric,

Thank you for reaching out. The historical metrics are calculated based on the past twelve months data and could not be customized. If you use the keyword planner from the Google Ads UI, you would notice that even if you change the date range, the historical metrics in the table won’t change.

Hi Xiaoming,

I'm afraid it does change the data : there is noticeable change in both the charts (the large one above the table and the small ones in each row) and, more importantly, the downloadable CSV file.

For instance, see how the chart changes for yourself:

Thank you for reaching out. Unfortunately, it is currently not supported to generate Historical Metrics prior to the last 12 months date range by KeywordPlanService in the Google Ads API. There is already a feature request to support it in the Google Ads API.  Please keep an eye on our blog for the announcements and updates on new releases.

Hello,

The Ads API is not at feature parity with the Ads UI. There are a number of features supported in the Ads UI that are not supported in the Ads API. New features are announced on the Ads Developer blog.
