Can't create negative user list criterion for VIDEO campaign and conversion value rule set for PERFORMANCE_MAX campaign.

Hello Team, 

On the UI I can create both, exclusion criterion via user list for VIDEO campaign, and conversion value rule set for PERFORMANCE_MAX campaign. Also, here, it is claimed that conversion value rule sets should be supported by PERFORMANCE_MAX campaigns.

By reviewing your query, I understand that you have encountered the MUTATE_NOT_ALLOWED error while adding YouTube Video IDs via the Google Ads API. Kindly note that the video campaigns and their ads are not mutable via the API as described in this guide. You will need to find an alternative to placing these ads such as manually placing them through the UI.

Kindly note that, I will raise a request for this feature to become available in the Google Ads API. However, I cannot provide a scheduled timeline for its availability in the API. So, I would recommend you to follow our Blog Post and Release Notes for future updates.

Please note that the VALUE_RULES_NOT_SUPPORTED_FOR_CAMPAIGN_TYPE error is encountered as the value rule set is attached to a campaign that does not support value rules. Currently, campaign level value rule sets can only be created for Search, or Display campaigns. The Performance Max is not supported in this value rule. Having that said, we would suggest that if you want to create a ConversionValueRuleSetService at the campaign level, you should use Search or Display campaigns because these two currently support the campaign level value rule.

Thanks for your timely response. I see from the UI that value rules can be attached to PERFORMANCE_MAX campaigns and also link I provided states that PERFORMANCE_MAX campaigns support value rules. Is this API limitation? 

Please see segment value rule attached to a PERFORMANCE_MAX campaign.

As mentioned earlier, the value rule set is attached to a campaign that does not support value rules. Currently, campaign level value rule sets can only be created for Search, or Display campaigns. The Performance Max is not supported in this value rule. Having that said, we would suggest that if you want to create a ConversionValueRuleSetService at the campaign level, you should use 'Search' or 'Display' campaigns because these two currently support the campaign level value rule.

Can you confirm that this is an API limitation and is possible from the Google Ads Platform? I can attach exclusion audience to a VIDEO type campaign, and value rules to a PERFORMANCE_MAX campaign from the UI. Does it mean that it is non functional from the platform as well?

Yes, I can confirm that this is an API limitation but functionality differs between the UI and API. As informed earlier, video campaigns and value rules to a PERFORMANCE_MAX campaign are not supported in the Google Ads API.
