Contacting Nielsen for locations?

Hey!

I want to target audiences via location targetting on DMAs. Documentation say I have to contact Nielsen for this...

But I can target DMAs just fine and it seems to be fairly open static data. Meta has a list too: https://www.facebook.com/business/help/1501907550136620

Can you explain why would I contact Nielsen and what are the legal implications of using the google ads API without doing so?

To emphasize my point, look at the following image where it shows I can target DMAs. it looks like google paid Nielsen to provide something, I dont understand if us as users also should.

Hey!

Thanks for your reply. I understand I can get DMA from the UI, but then I can also download a report with the Ids.

Once I got those from my campaigns location, are they illegal to use in some way unless I pay Nielsen?

I've ran this on a test account and it works, I dont understand why these IDs would trademarked.

Hi,

Note that there is no alternative way to retrieve data from DMA regions, you need to contact directly with the Nielsen Company to obtain the DMA regions data.

Since Nielsen owns the DMA data, I suggest you to contact Nielsen Company for more information.
