Hi all,
I have been starting to get this error

AuthorizationError.ACCESS_DENIED_FOR_ACCOUNT_TYPE

When making a get on ManagedCustomerService on one of the accounts i am controlling via OAuth google signin. needed to say, i am not expose to any UI in order to understand how this can somehow happen.

Didn't find any documentation about this error and wondering how should it be handled?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out. I see that you are getting an AuthorizationError. In order for me to take a closer look, can you please provide the complete detailed logs of the request and response to the API? Additionally, can you also provide your MCC ID as well as the email address tied to the credentials used to authenticate the API call? Since we are currently experiencing issues with the "Reply privately to author" option, please provide these details to googleadsa...@google.com

Hi,

I'm also getting this error when I try to build the tree of the Google Ads accounts I have access to.
From the logs I can tell that for some reason the customerService (https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/reference/v201809/CustomerService#getCustomers) is trying to get access to Search Ads 360 accounts (I manage accounts in both Google Ads and Search Ads 360).
The logs clearly show the name of accounts that exist only in my Search Ads 360 account.

This basically breaks every application I have that relies on building the account tree.

Same here. I have spend couple of hours trying to figure out why suddenly getting accounts fails. Here are my details:
  • Using Google.Api.Ads.AdWords.Lib.AdWordsService.v201809.ManagedCustomerService
  • API version: v201809
  • Stack: .NET Core 3
  • Fails on: managedCustomerService.get(selector);
  • Selector used: CustomerId, Name, CurrencyCode, DateTimeZone, TestAccount, CanManageClients
  • Observed behavior:
    • From 32 MCCs under used Google login it is about always the same 4 MCCs where we get this error when listing their sub-accounts
    • Actually it is not always, but in most cases (4 in 5 calls?) the call fails .. on 1/5 we are able to retrieve the list
  • Exception:
    • AuthorizationError.ACCESS_DENIED_FOR_ACCOUNT_TYPE

@Stefano, Can you please provide your MCC ID and the complete detailed logs of the request and response via "Reply privately to author" so that I can take a deeper look into your issue? 

@Ales, Since this error is occurring intermittently for you, I have raised this internally within my team. We are checking to see if there are any issues within ManagedCustomerService. We will get back to you once we receive an update. In the meantime, if you can also provide the MCC IDs and complete detailed logs where you are experiencing these issues, that would help us investigate further.
