Thanks for reaching out. Yes, this field is still supported. I tried your query,

  SELECT ad_group_ad.ad.call_ad.country_code, metrics.clicks, metrics.cost_micros FROM ad_group_ad

on the validator and received a valid query. However, please note that when retrieving metrics in reports that a date range must be provided.
