Hi

When attempting to SET the destination URL of a BiddableAdGroupCriterion with an underlying Criterion type of Product or ProductPartition, some objects throw the following error

RequestError.UNSUPPORTED_FIELD_IS_SET

Does anyone know what causes this and if there's any way I can detect whether or not the objects' Destination Field is actually mutable, before I make the update request?

thanks

pete

Hello,

Can you please include an example SOAP request/response where you're seeing this? Please make sure to remove any personal information, such as your developer token.

Hello,

I believe this is related to the fact that those criteria are for "shopping"-type criteria, which have different restrictions from other types since they integrate directly with your shopping account. If you can reproduce this using a criteria type that is not specifically shopping-related, please let me know so I can look into it further.

Hi Mike - OK that makes sense...

Is there any way I can determine this restriction prior to attempting the update, else I'm repeating the same update request each day?

I know I could keep an audit log of failed updates and exclude objects from future updates (assuming I can reliably distinguish between transient and permanent errors), but the sheer volume of criterion objects we process each day may make this approach nonviable.

thanks for your time

Hello,

You should avoid setting a destination URL for criteria with Product or Product Partition types.

Hi -

unfortunately my clients require transparency on what triggers their Ads and related clicks, so I have no option but to set the destination URL with "{unescapedlpurl}" decorated with a "tracking tag", identifying the object as we have no access to the product feed itself.
