I'm currently using Google Ads API v18 for most of my implementation, but I haven't applied conversion goals yet. My question is:

  1. Can I use Google Ads API v16 only for setting conversion goals while keeping the rest of the implementation on v18?
  2. If yes, what would be the best approach to integrate v16 for conversion goals?
  3. Are there any security risks or compatibility issues with using different API versions within the same implementation?
  4. Would this affect future updates, given that Google deprecates older versions over time?

I want to ensure that my implementation remains stable and compliant with Google's best practices. Any guidance on this would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,

Thank you for reaching out to the Google Ads API support team.

Please find the answers for your questions below:

1. Can I use Google Ads API v16 only for setting conversion goals while keeping the rest of the implementation on v18?
  • No, you cannot use the Google Ads API V16 because it's deprecated and sunset.
2. If yes, what would be the best approach to integrate v16 for conversion goals?
  • No, you cannot use one requirement in one version and another requirement in another version. Instead you need to use all the implementations in the same version.
3. Are there any security risks or compatibility issues with using different API versions within the same implementation?
  • Obviously there might be compatibility issues if you use the different API versions within the same implementation and your API calls will fail.
4. Would this affect future updates, given that Google deprecates older versions over time?
  • We would recommend migrating to the latest version v18 and you may follow this link to Upgrade to the latest version. Periodically, you might want to upgrade from an older major version of the Google Ads API to a newer major version. It could be because a version is sunsetting, or it could be because you want to use a new feature. We recommend that you always upgrade to the newest version.

Thanks,
