Google Adwords to Google Ads API Migration

HI All,

We went through the Migration document where we share the same configuration
api.googleads.clientId= CCC
api.googleads.clientSecret=DDD
api.googleads.refreshToken=EEE
api.googleads.developerToken=FFF

When we run the sample code, we are getting the error message

Google Ads API has not been used in project XXX before or it is disabled. Enable it by visiting https://console.developers.google.com/apis/api/googleads.googleapis.com/overview?project=XXX then retry. If you enabled this API recently, wait a few minutes for the action to propagate to our systems and retry., cause=null}.

But when we go to the https://console.developers.google.com/apis/api/googleads.googleapis.com/overview?project=XXX we get these messages 


You are missing at least one of the following required permissions: 

Project 

resourcemanager.projects.get
serviceusage.services.get

Check that the project ID is valid and you have permissions to access it.

Hi Peter!

We have google adwords MCC account as well as GCP projects for data analytics.
I am confused how our MCC account and the GCP projects are linked. 

We have the MCC account which we manage via AdwordsAPI. It has a developer token.
If we want to move to GoogleAds API to manage the MCC account can we use the same dev token? Does this migration need a GCP project to be created? If it is needed can this be separate from our other existing GCP projects?

Please see our responses to your questions below:

  1. If we want to move to GoogleAds API to manage the MCC account can we use the same dev token? Yes, you can still use the same developer token.
  2. Does this migration need a GCP project to be created? If it is needed can this be separate from our other existing GCP projects? A GCP project is needed for this. You can refer to this guide for more details. In addition to that, you can reuse your existing GCP project. You would then need to Enable the Google Ads API in your project.

As an aside, we suggest that you read this migration guide and the Carryover Concepts to learn more about the new features and improvements when upgrading from the AdWords API

Thanks for the response.

We have enabled GoogleAds API in our existing GCP project. But when we run your demo code with our existing dev token, we are hitting errors. Can you help?

Can you please attach the Exception we get when we use the existing dev token?

Hi Mark,

 

Thanks for the response, we have created new oauth credentials and are using same developer token. When we try to run the sample code(getCampaigns) we are facing this error

 authorization_error: MISSING_TOS
}

Hi everyone,

From the error message below :

authorization_error: MISSING_TOS

It appears to indicate that you are missing the Terms of Service agreement in your account. The terms of service is usually found in the Google Ads UI and you can try and navigate to the TOOLS & SETTINGS > SETUP > API Center

Going back to API errors, if you haven't yet, logging can be enabled by navigating to the Client libraries > Your client library (ex. Java) > Logging documentation, which you can access from this link. That said, if API errors persist, you may send the complete request and response logs, with the request-id.

You may then send the requested information via the Reply privately to author option. If this option is not available, you may send the details directly to our googleadsa...@google.com alias instead.
