Email required when making createCustomerClient request

Hello,

I am trying to use the REST interface to create clients (https://developers.google.com/google-ads/api/rest/reference/rest/v9/customers/createCustomerClient). The documentation does not mention that providing an email address is required to create a client, and when creating a client through the google ads manager UI, I do not need to specify an email address.

However, when I try to use the API I get the error: "Field 'email_address' is required for 'createCustomerClient' operation". In any of the example code samples for the supported libraries, I do not see email addresses being specified. Is this because the REST interface requires an email address to be specified, but gRPC does not?
