I got a campaign with 9.511 adgroups and my API don't want to load anymore adgroups in this campaign.

I tried to delete all the adgroups that are not relevant anymore, but they remain in the campaign with the 'delete' status.
Is it possible to delete them 'for real' so I can upload new ones? If it is possible, would I still access the data for the previous period?

The only other option I see would be to create new campaign.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Hi Hugo,

There is no way to delete the adgroups permanently. You can filter your results in AdGroupService.get to show you active/enabled adgroups only by passing a Selector object with status as 'ENABLED' .  You can also implement paging to see a certain number of rows at a time.

Hope this helps. Please feel free to reach out if you have further concerns.

Hi,

in our experience it works. We delete old adgroups an upload new ones. Up to 20000 adgroups (active and paused) fits in one campaign, 600000 fits in an account.

Hi Jam,

When you remove/delete an adgroup, it's status is changed to 'REMOVED'  (although, the adgroup still exists).

Hugo, can you please share the soap request/response logs (i.e. when you try to add more adgroups in your campaign)? Please click Reply privately to author when responding.

Hi Vishal,

yes I know that the adgroups "only" change theire status, but now you should be able to upload new adgroups, until the limit of 20000 adgroups (active and paused) in one campaign is reached.  And thats Hugos problem, as I understand it.
But you should rename removed adgroups to avoid duplicate names, which is not allowed.

Hi Jam,

That is correct. You can have up to 20,000 ad groups in a campaign, and that includes active and paused ad groups. If you hit that limit, the best option is to create another campaign.
