Hi!

Looking into the changes for v15 where you need to add consent to customer_match_user_list_metadata. What happens until the change in march if I specify the consent as Unspecified?

Thanks

To clarify. Until 6th of march when consent for EU is needed.
What value for the consent should I use?
What is the difference between UNKNOWN or UNSPECIFIED until 6th.

Hi,

Thank you for contacting the Google Ads API support team.

If you set the consent status is to “UNSPECIFIED” it will be treated as missing consent, which means that the EEA user’s data cannot be used for ad personalization. Set an initial consent state with the default values determined by your organization. The default consent state applies the first time a visitor views a page on your website. The UNKNOWN status is output-only and UNSPECIFIED status is considered as not specified or missing data. You may refer to this article for more information.

I would suggest you to refer to the following articles to know the update on consent mode for traffic in EEA, FAQs and updates to consent mode. Let us know if you have any further queries.

Thank you for the response!

To further clarify. Setting consent for "ad_user_data" and "ad_ personalization to "UNSPECIFIED " for EEA user's at this moment makes the data unaccessible for ad personalization? Or does it first apply after 6th of March?

Is there a value that can be used for the interim period until the consent is enforced, i.e. a value that essentially is equivalent to not passing consent in the request body?

Thanks,

Hi,

Thank you for getting back to us.

According to the API documentation, EEA users won't be processed and cannot be used for ad personalization using Customer Match, and we added CustomerMatchUserListMetadata.consent to support providing consent. No action is required at this time, but follow our blog for updates in the coming months. See FAQs and updates to consent mode for more details.
