Why aren't all UK postcodes available through geo targetting?

Hi,

I'm looking to use geo targetting for the UK at postcode area. I can't reconcile the postcode districts in UK wide data with the geotargetting available in adwords show here: https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/appendix/geotargeting

I believe there should be 3107 listed and there are only 2165.

For example YO22. This is not available via adwords web interface either - see screenshot. It is known to google though: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Whitby+YO22/@54.4559996,-0.7004165,11.75z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x487f16024c167cc1:0x7d742a778a9bbc40!8m2!3d54.4105555!4d-0.6555295

I've uploaded a file of the 940 missing areas. 

Can they really not be targetted or is the shared list of targetting id's not correct?

Any pointers on the logic and how to target by postcode appreciated.

Hi Neil, 

The locations listed here are the only ones that are targetable via AdWords. Depending on the quality of geo targeting available, some locations may not be targetable via AdWords. I'll get in touch with the team and provide the list of missing UK postcodes attached here. You can keep an eye on our blog for updates on when these locations are added to the geo targets list.
