Is it slower to access test account's data via API than standard account? How much slower if so?

Hi,

I'm testing API performance (e.g. how much time needed to add 5k keywords) for time-sensitive issue, for now I only have a basic dev token with a test account.

Does the test account stand on a different environment and has different performance than standard one? Is the result slower? How much slower if so?

Thanks!

Hi Dongliang,

Regardless whether the API service is called using a test account or a production account, the response time of the API services may vary and is affected by a number of factors such as network connection and type of operations requested.

Thanks! We can care about network etc. later.

Do you know what's the difference between test account and production account, is it faster to call API for production account than test account? And seems AdWords API also has specific throttling for established account and new accounthttps://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/guides/rate-limits#differentiate_queue_or_rate_limiter_for_new_accounts_vs_established_accounts

What about dev token? Is there any difference between unapproved/basic/standard dev token? (We know the operation limit per day is different, here we care about performance, aka speed)

Thanks!

Hi Dongliang,

The API guide you mentioned earlier is just giving a recommendation to use different throttling or queuing strategies for new and established accounts to maximize their throughput since they have different rate limits and is not necessarily differentiating between  test and production accounts. Having said that, the varying speed or response time of your API calls should not be affected by whether they were executed from either your test or production account.

As for the different access levels, the main difference is primarily on daily operational limits and shouldn't have any impact on the response time of your API calls.
