limit of performance max assets

Hi there,

I‘m using AssetService to create assets for Performance Max asset groups.

 I’ve learned that there is a limit of 20 assets which can be linked to a resource (e.g. customer, ad group, campaign) per asset field type: https://developers.google.com/google-ads/api/docs/extensions/assets/asset-extensions

While using API, is there a limit of image/text/callout assets amounts on customer level? I didn't see any limitation when upload images and logos to asset library on Google Ads platform UI, I can upload more than 20 images to the asset library.

So If we have a lot of assets to upload through API, we won't be limited by quantity cap right?

Moving forward to your concern, please note that asset and asset extensions are different. For pmax assets to asset group, the max cap size is mentioned here in this document. Note that your account may have many assets. In this phrase "Assets are immutable and cannot be removed", it is true that Asset can't be removed or updated in the API. However, based on this document, Ad asset limits:

• 250,000 ad group-level assets per account
• 50,000 campaign-level assets per account
• 10,000 ad group-level assets per campaign

Will pmax asset group be also considered as ad group? Generally it's campaign->ad group->ad but pmax has a different structure, campaign->asset group.

Please note that Performance Max is a type of campaign which provides a unified buying service to all Google Ads inventory. It optimizes performance and allocates budgets dynamically to the highest performing channels to eliminate updating budgets across multiple campaigns. Therefore, it is not considered as an Ad group.
