Hi,

I am reading about developer token in both AdWords API and Google Ads API Beta ans i am little confused.

I am refering this link which says that if i generate developer account from a manager account A then i can only access its child accounts. Any other account which is not under manager account A hierarchy is not accessible.

This link says Your developer token grants access to the API, not to a particular account. Once your token is approved, you can use the same token for requests against all your Google Ads accounts, even if they're not linked to the manager account associated with the developer token.

It would be so helpful if you could answer below questions:

Q1. If I generate developer token for a manager account what accounts I can access with this developer account? Are only child accounts under this manager account is accessible or any other account outside hierarchy can also be accessed.

Q2. Why the developer tokens work differently for AdWords API and Google Ads API?

Hi Swarnim,

Thank you for reaching out. Please find my response to your questions below:

  1. Both child accounts and any other accounts outside hierarchy can use the developer token to access API.

  2. They have the same behaviors. The developer token just grants the account access to the API. To access an account you would need to be authenticated with the OAuth2 credentials.

Thanks and regards,
