Ads placement data from the API doesn't match what's shown in the content for the same campaign.

We're using the "group_placement_view" from the reporting API to fetch the websites hosting our ads. Yet, we've noticed inconsistencies in both the number of placements and the reported data when compared to what's displayed in the Placements section of the Content tab on Google Ads UI.

Furthermore, this inconsistency extends to the reports within the Google Ads UI. Despite using the same data retrieved from the API call, the information displayed in these reports still differs from what's shown in the Content tab.

I'm curious about why this is happening and how we can obtain the same data displayed on the Content page?

Hi Mia,

Thank you for contacting the Google Ads API support team.

I understand that you are observing a data discrepancy between the Google Ads UI and API. To investigate this issue further, provide us with the complete API logs (request and response with request-id and request header) generated at your end along with the uncropped UI screenshot (with visible customer Id) to better assist you on this request.

If you are using a client library and haven't enabled the logging yet, I would request you to enable logging for the specific client library that you are using. You can refer to the guides Java.NetPHPPythonRuby or Perl to enable logging at your end. For REST interface requests, you can enable logging via the curl command by using the -i flag.

You can send the details via Reply privately to the author option, or direct private reply to this email.
