Essentially I know there are tools like super metric that allow you to authenticate with Oauth providing an adwords scope. From this point without providing any additional value they are able to list my accessible ad accounts and pull data from these accounts.

however when I try to do the same in my own script I run into the issue of needing a developer token for the account I want to pull the ad accounts from (currently I am trying to use the list_accessible_customers call ) Am I going about this the wrong way?

Hi,

Thank you for reaching out to the Google Ads API support team.

I would suggest you refer to the OAuth2 Internals for Google Ads API to know more about the scope and access token. You may check this guide on how to Make an API call. You can use the OAuth Playground to generate refresh and access tokens. Also, if you are using REST, check this video on how to generate an access token with REST and you can use that access token to authenticate to the Google Ads REST API.

If the issue persists even after trying with the provided suggestion, kindly provide us with the complete updated API logs (request and response logs with request-id and request header) generated at your end to better assist you further.

If you are using a client library and haven't enabled the logging yet, I would request you to enable logging for the specific client library that you are using. You can refer to the guides Java, .Net, PHP, Python, Ruby or Perl to enable logging at your end. For REST interface requests, you can enable logging via the curl command by using the -i flag.
