Historical Performance Data - AdWords API vs. Google Ads API

Hello Ads Team,

in the soon deprecated Adwords API there is/was a method (targetingIdeaService) were i could submit up to 500 keywords an receive historical performance data like searchvolume and cpc.

In the new Ads API there is NO direct equivalent to this or am I wrong?

Sure there is KeywordPlanIdeaServiceClient but this method only accepts up to 20 seed keywords .. not more.

Another way would be to create a KeywordPlan, then create a KeywordPlanCampaign, then create KeywordPlanAdGroup and then add the Keywords.
After that i have to pull the results via getKeywordForecasts.

This is rather complex and seems a bit overdone to me?

Is there a simple way to get the historical performance data for more than 20 keywords?

Hi Matthias,

Historical performances or metrics should be supported in the Google Ads API. You may check our generate historical metrics guide as this should map to said the old API's feature.

Regarding limits or quotas with the planning services, you may then refer to this guide. Let me know if this helps.
