Hey folks,

I wish to welcome Alex Swartzinski's debut contribution of an observing report, which some of you may have already read on CloudyNights: https://adventuresindeepspace.com/OR_Swartzinski_20250426.html

In addition, I've synced the DeepSkyForum OOTW listings to include the latest OOTWs. This system rides on work by Wouter van Reeven who has been keeping a Google Sheet of all OOTWs, and the rest is some programming.

Larry Mitchell's "Mitchell Anonymous Catalog", as linked from Adventures (https://adventuresindeepspace.com/catalogs.html), now has sexagesimal RA and Dec.

If you have any ideas for lists, observing reports, please let me know. The best format for me is a formatted (HTML) e-mail, as I have a program to easily convert it into a format usable for the website. I know I have a lot of pending tasks for Adventures, but I am still happy to receive some quick-to-convert e-mail content.

Regards
Akarsh

I must admit that I don’t see the point of the MAC catalogue anymore as all those galaxies are now in LEDA and it would only be used by the dwindling band of Megastar users and anyone without that program would have no idea what is being talked about.

Owen,

There are certainly a few galaxies with MAC designations that are not in the LEDA (or at least, PGC 2003). The main advantage I see for the MAC is that there are still a lot of MAC numbers floating around on CloudyNights and such, which can now be looked up by RA/Dec without having to use MegaStar; and perhaps one can find PGC numbers for them using a SIMBAD coordinate query.

Regards
Akarsh
