Dear all:

This may be a good time for us to understand and follow how to Plug our EAR!

In one of the Gita discussions at Chinmaya Mission, Swami Dheernanandaji, pointed out that we should always Plug Our EAR!  Here E stands for Excitement during present event;  A stands for Anxiety over future event; and R stands for Regret over past event!

I have compiled this discussion with a simple format for everyone to easy to understand and follow:

Excitement over the Present: While joy is good, extreme "hype" or infatuation can cloud our judgment. It often leads to impulsive choices and unrealistic expectations.  Just live on the present and learn to adopt

Anxiety over the Future: The future does not exist yet. Worrying about unknowns creates

Un-necessary stress and paralyzes our decision-making process.

Regret the Past: The past cannot be changed. Dwelling on old mistakes breeds sadness, guilt, and stagnation. If and when we correct the mistakes if we can, that is the best we can do!

Here is what we should do!

Mindfulness: Ground our self with the actual reality of the present moment. Observe our current surroundings without judgment or over-excitement.

Preparedness: Replace future anxiety with structured planning. Focus only on actionable steps you can control right now.

Acceptance: Acknowledge past actions as locked history. Extract the lesson and allow the emotional baggage go away.

Conclusion: PLUG the EAR!!
