Hari Om,
What should be the precise definition of swapnatva (स्वप्नत्व) in accordance with Advaita VedaAnta?
I have tried defining it. Will be grateful if any shortcomings therein are pointed.
अनवच्छिन्नचैतन्याज्ञानजन्य-प्रातिभासिकवस्तुनः अज्ञानोपहितचिता अप्रातिभासिकत्वेन दृश्यत्वं स्वप्नत्वम्।
By stating prAtibhAsika-vastu to be born from अनवच्छिन्नचैतन्याज्ञान, the ativyApti in अवच्छिन्नचैतन्याज्ञानजन्य-प्रातिभासिकवस्तु, which is seen in waking-state, is removed. So, mirage seen in waking would not be covered under dream.
PrAtibhAsika-vastu seen as non-prAtibhAsika is another requirement for dream. It should not be confused that this implies admission of vyAvahArika, because admitted pAramArthiaka is enough for conception of non-prAtibhAsika.
PrAtibhAsikatva basically means dOsha-prayuktatva-nibandhana-jnAtaika-sattva. This definition I take from drishTi-srishTi.
JnAtaika-sattva means swa-jnAna-vyApyatvam.
Regards.
Sudhanshu Shekhar.
