Each morning we will first sit quietly and calm the mind in preparation for guided reflections that unfold the teachings of the classical texts and of Shankara, the most important Acharya of the nondual tradition. Meditation will be followed by chanting and then group discussions among participants. Questions and answers will follow as required.
Fundamental wisdom teachings of Vedanta
This is the centrepiece of the intensive course. Our afternoons will be filled with lectures highlighting the core principles of the classical texts: The 10 Upanishads, the Bhagavad Gita and the Brahma Sutras, as well as the precepts taught by Shankaracharya and others familiar with this original methodology. The discussions will revolve around these topics, among others:
1. What is the true nature of the self?
2. What exactly is the ignorance that causes all of life's problems?
3. What is the difference between doing something and recognising something?
4. the difference between the worldly view and the absolute view
5. What is the unique method of Vedanta by which one attains liberation from ignorance?
6. the place of scriptures, reasoning and experience in the Vedantic teachings. English with German translation.Â
