Dear Sachin Satvi,
I write on behalf of BK Manish and his book "Fifth Schedule and Beyond: Aspects of Tribal Question".
- The Fifth Schedule was inserted into the Constitution of India to assuage the concern that tribals would be minced by the onslaught of the national mainstream including its complex law and administration.
- However, a confusion about the interpretation of the Fifth Schedule persists.
- This book by BK Manish is an attempt to clarify the confusion with the use of all legal documents related to the Fifth Schedule, right from the Constituent Assembly Debates, reports of the Bhuria Commission, and pertinent cases like Samatha vs. State of Andhra Pradesh.
- In addition to these important documents, the book contains a primer to the Fifth Schedule, which lucidly lays out its meaning.
- A third section addresses the question of tribal rights.
We hope you can help us sell this book in as many avenues as possible, since this is probably the first book on the legal interpretation of the Fifth Schedule. As 5th September is the 65th anniversary of the inclusion of the Fifth Schedule, we would like to step up the promotion of the book and its sales as much as possible.
Looking forward to your valuable assistance in furthering correct interpretation and ending the prevailing confusion over the Fifth Schedule.
Warm regards,
Shatakshi Gawade
