Hi, I'm a student who is doing my thesis about deep learning and I'm working with the ActivityNet dataset. One of the main setback I have found trying to download the whole dataset, is that some videos have been deleted recently by its owners or have geographic restrictions.

I would like to ask if there is a link to download the whole dataset with all the videos that appear at the json describing all the videos. I would be great because we would not have to work with an uncompleted dataset.

Thanks a lot for your attention,

Alberto Montes

Hi Alberto,

Thanks for your interest in ActivityNet.

Unfortunately, we do not provide the videos to the public due to copyright issues. We have estimated that only 3%-5% (depending of the country) of the videos are deleted or blocked. To handle this affair, we encourage the community to use our evaluation server to asses their results. Our evaluation system discards the videos that has restrictions when assessing a user result.

Hi Fabian,

I just checked the release 1.3 and found there are 172 videos blocked (I'm in Australia), and some are in the training set. Are there any ways I can access those private videos?

Thank you,
Linchao

Hi Fabian,

Is it possible for you to provide md5sum for each video so I can be sure I am using the correct videos?

Best,
Linchao

Hi Linchao,

· We are aware of the issue of missing (i.e. deleted or blocked) videos, which is out of our hands because we are not the content providers. We thank you for bringing it up. In fact, these videos constitute less than 1% of the whole dataset, so we don’t expect that they would significantly impact your training. As for the testing set, our evaluation server generates a daily list of videos that are not missing and only uses them for evaluation, so as not to penalize anyone for videos that are inaccessible.

· In case you want to access videos that are blocked in your country, you can use a VPN to download them.

· As a general reminder, we want to point out that we have released code to automatically download videos using the JSON file of the release. You can get this code here.

I hope you find this useful.

Best,
Fabian
