Hi,

We are currently using the ORCA-Flash4.0 LT+ Digital CMOS Hamamatsu Camera and have been able to achieve 1000 frames per second (fps) at a resolution of 512x32 (with 4x4 binning) using the Hamamatsu software (HCImage). However, we are experiencing difficulties in reaching this frame rate when using the ACQ4 software (~800 fps).
Could you please provide guidance or suggest any settings or configurations within the ACQ4 software that might help me achieve the desired 1000 fps? Any assistance or recommendations you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you and kind regards,
Nima

Hello Nima,

I have just confirmed that I am still able to acquire at 1kHz with my ORCA Flash 4.0. I used the following parameters, configured from the acq4 manager window:

exposure=1ms
binningX=4, binningY=4
regionX=0, regionY=960
regionH=128, regionW=2048
ScanMode=2.0

If I start the camera via the camera module, the FPS readout varies between about 800 and 1200 fps; I believe the instability in this readout is just due to variance in the arrival time of frames to the software; all frames are still making it in without being dropped. I can confirm this by using a digital input on my NI board to record the exposure times while flashing an LED in sync:

Are you still having this problem if you use the exact same parameters? Note that the exact Y value 960 is important here, since it makes the ROI centered along the sensor's Y axis.

Cheers,
Luke

Hi Luke,
Thank you so much for your response.
I changed all the parameters as you mentioned but unfortunately, the frame rate stands at ~700 fps. I've attached a screenshot of the ACQ4.
What else can cause this problem?

Thank you and kind regards,
Nima

Hello Nima,
In the screenshot you posted, the exposure time of your camera is 3 ms. Can you get faster frame rates by reducing this to 1 ms?

Luke
