Hi all. VDJ has been acting querky lately, so I've uninstalled it, and gotten rid of all posssible references to virtual dj without going into the windows registry. My question now is this. I understand that the newest version of the MallMuzik software will install everything, not necessarily all at once, but at least one after the other. Should i just follow the prompts, answering 'yes' to everything? Or should I be more selective about what to, or what not to install? Thanks for any help..

Yes, it won't hurt if you answer all questions with a yes.

Hi, Zenek and all. I did scrap and re-install as I said I would, but, as you suggested, Zenek, the only folders that showed up in my appdata\virtualdj folder were cache and drivers. i think everthing else ended up in my documents folder. Asside from needing to log in, is there any reason I should have vdj 8.1 installed? I suspect, that when 8.1 got installed it uses the my documents folder, but even after installing vdj 2026, it just puts the above-mentioned folders in the vdj folder under appdata. If this is to be corrected, how do I do this? Or, if this is expected behavior, I'll just run with it. Thanks for any help.

Hi, I don't install the older VDJ at all, only the new version, so you can skip 8.1, then install only 2026, best regards

This is normal behavior.

What is happening, is when you install 8.1. it puts its data folder in your documents folder.
then when you install 2600, this will now also use the data folder in the documents folder, but it will also create a folder in the appdata folder as you have discovered, but this one is only for temporary files that version 2600 uses such as downloaded content and video drivers for stem use, so you can ignore that folder.

if your not sure which folder if the one that VDJ uses for data, it should contain the mallmuzik folder, and a settings.xml file.

but if you install VDJ 2600 first, then that one sets the  data folder in the appdata folder. and then if you install 8.1 after, it will then use the one in the appdata folder, and VDJ 2600 will also use it as its temporary folder, basically you will have only the one foler which is in the appdata folder.

Hope all that made sense.

Hope this helps

hello everyone. My name is Breezy and I am attempting to use virtual Dj on a silicone based Mack. I’ve installed the latest version, also downloaded the Dj extension. When I run it, it tells me my virtual Dj folder can’t be found, but I’ve ran virtual Dj, and logged in. How do I fix this issue?

Hi Breezy.

Welcome to the group.

It sounds like you got VDJ from the Apple App store.

this version hides its data folder. and does not work with MallMuzik. the best think to do in uninstall the version from the AppStore, and download VDJ from the official website instead, www.virtualdj.com

hope this helps.

Pete

Hi, pete and others. Ok. All that makes sense. If I were to uninstall 8.1, and only have 2600, what would I do if I needed to connect vdj to the internet? If I understand correctly, the only version that will let you connect to the internet accessibly is 8.1. While I'm on that subject, as far as logging in, is the virtual dj id still being used? Or should I just try to log in via my microsoft account or my google account? Again, thanks for any help.

Logging into VDJ 2026 is a bit tricky; you have to use NVDA's OCR. OCR often doesn't recognize the OK button, but if you can, you can try this method.
The OK button probably has some fancy letters or a graphical symbol, because OCR in VDJ skins usually doesn't recognize the OK button anywhere, so you might have problems confirming your login.
If someone helped you once and set the mouse coordinates in the Golden Cursor plugin, it would be easy to log in in the future.
If you're lucky, you'll be able to reach the login button and confirm your password.
If you can't log in through 2026, then install 8.1 as Peter suggested.
P.S. If you just want to broadcast to internet radio, you don't necessarily need to log in to VDJ.
Best regards, Zenek

Hi, Zenek, and others. So, if i just want to log in accessibly, and I have vdj 2026 installed, I could install 8.1 long enough to get logged in, then turn right around and uninstall 8.1. Am I correct in guessing this? Thanks.

Hi Shane,

Yes, that would work fine.
although version 8.1 uses very little space, and could be just left installed.

but yes you can uninstall 8.1 after logging in to your VDJ account.
