Dear colleagues,

In my last composition, I used orchidea (http://www.orch-idea.org) to extract pitches from recordings and used them in the piece. After that, I started building python functions to make abjad scores from Orchidea's output.

I'd like to share what I have so far and ask what you think, and if anyone else is interested in assisted orchestration.

I checked it now and it seems that the connection file I got from MaxOrch may work fine too. MaxOrch is the latest update on the Orchidea project: https://perbloland.com/maxorch-download

It is also a concern that Orchidea is not open source. So, if you have any alternative to recommend, please let me know.

Dear Davi,

congratulations on your project! I have a very old installation of Orchidée (I think they changed the name later to Orchidea) on an old Mac and played a bit with it in the past and found it quite amusing. Nowadays I'm on Linux, I don't know if the command line application works on that. I'll have to check. Your results look terrific anyways!

Regards,
Martín.

Thank you, Martín!

According to this post (2020) they want to make Orchidea open source. So, expectations were created. 😅

Regards,
Davi
