Hi everyone!

I'd like to encourage each and every one of you to make a 'faces of science' post! I've attached mine as an example, and a template to help you make yours. You do not have to follow the template, just make sure that the text is big enough to read, and the photos are high enough resolution to see.

The point of this exercise is to show
1. That there are many different types of people "doing science", and
2. Very few of us fit the scientist cliche. I said this in a way I regret at the last WAFS meeting: No, many of us are not 'white guys in lab coats', but I want to acknowledge that some of us are, and your story is also valuable. We are all much more than we appear, we each came to science in our own unique way, and have our own unique story to share. So please, everyone, make a 'Faces of Science' post and send it to me!

When you're done, save as a png and email it to me at nam...@psu.edu!
P.S. The template is a powerpoint file. If you would like it for a different program, let me know.

Thanks everyone!
Nooreen

Feel free to comment here with questions, or email me personally.

Noreen,

Awesome idea! Love it :)

I noticed that the standard size for .png’s was a little small and the pictures were pixels, so I changed mine to 1200 x 900 to help with the resolution (hence why I replied all so other people can follow suit if they crammed lots of pictures on there like I did). Let me know if that’s too big or if the format is incorrect!

Super excited to read everybody’s FoS story. Thanks again, Noreen, for the lovely concept!

Hi Nooreen,

I work for the EMS Dean's Office on our social media. Could I post your graphic on our Facebook and Twitter accounts? We're always looking for more ways to highlight our students and researchers.

Thanks,
Liam

Hi Liam,
That would be great! I would be happy to send more along as they are made, if folks give me permission to do so.
Thank you!
